The Pass of Caradhras
Eisenhower Tunnel
So If you read my last post you know that I vowed to try and take pictures everyday in December. I didn’t exactly meet my goal of everyday but I came close. December’s are always interesting. There is always the comfy, sweet feeling of christmas and baking and spending time with family but there is also the antsy feeling you get waiting for the New Year. Will things change? Will I finally make my goals? Will that guy in my class finally ask me out? December is so full of feeling blessed but waiting for whats next.
I spent a good portion of my December on the road and in Colorado. On the way we stopped in Vegas and saw Star Wars(amazing.) then onto Grand Junction, CO for a short night and then we braved the winds of winter to get to Telluride. It was everything I expected of a small, picturesque ski town and more. Apart from being extremely high…in elevation Telluride is the perfect christmas town. It snowed all day, we were wined and dined and enjoyed a stroll back to our cute historic hotel in peaceful falling snow. It was wonderful. The next stop was right above Denver to visit Grandma and Grandpa. We stayed with relatives and had the comfiest lodgings. Christmas eve and Day were everything I wanted. I dressed up, helped my grandma, spent quality time and talked with all the relatives I hadn’t seen in a couple years. We ate all day, talked, gossiped, baked, and after a small drama over the roast - ate a yummy dinner. As a Californian from the southern part of the state - we don’t get much snow. But somehow Santa heard my wish and granted me a white christmas… I loved it even though it didn't show up until 6 o’clock. I even went out for a walk by myself while it was still fresh. There is nothing as peaceful as slow falling snow. It is such a beautiful silence. Unfortunately we had to turn back to California and made the long trek home.
Once I got back I rested up, New Years I went out and had a blast drinking and partying with my big sister. Now its the 16th of January and already this month is half over. Let’s see where this new year takes me… I have a feeling it’s gonna be a good one.
Cheers to you readers! I hope you had a wonderful holiday season and that your new year is going fabulous.
See you next time,
Robin
